Consultant Plastic Surgeon with interest in Lower Limb Surgery

Applicants are invited for the post of a Consultant Plastic Surgeon. This will be a permanent post.
Applicants will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to improve Plastics Surgery and Burns services within Lancashire and South Cumbria. This will be in line with the 18 week referral to treatment and national cancer targets. The candidate should have a specialist interest in Lower Limb reconstructions.
Applicants will be expected to have a commitment to working a 7 day working week, with this being potentially required.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
1. Specifically adopt, in conjunction with colleagues, an active role in the delivery of the Plastic Surgery in general / Lower Limb surgeries for the Directorate.
2. Provide direct input to patients; contribute to multi-disciplinary teams and participate in the delivery of General Plastic surgery, including skin cancer as well as a special interest in Lower limb surgeries.
3. Assume a continuous commitment for the care of patients, even if employed less than full-time and ensure that adequate arrangements are made for leave and off duty periods.
4. Promote high professional standards of clinical care for patients, both through direct patient care and by the maintenance of continuing professional development.
5. Exercise the freedom to develop specialist elements of the services to reflect perceived priorities within available resources.

The Plastic Surgery and Burns Facility in Preston provides a comprehensive service for the whole of Lancashire and South Cumbria covering a population of 1.7 million.
The trust carries peripheral clinics at the below sites:
* Blackpool Victoria Hospital
* Accrington Victoria Hospital
The adult plastic surgery and burns ward has 22 beds and day case area. There are allocated day case beds for children on the paediatric unit. The speciality treats minor trauma injuries and plastic related issues within the plastic directorate. The plastic team will cover the emergency related matters as part of the on call services for Lancashire and South Cumbria.

Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
* MBBS or equivalent
* FRCS or overseas equivalent.
* Entry on the Specialist Register (or entry expected within 6 months).
* FRCS (Plastic Surgery)
Health
* Meets professional health requirements in line with GMC Standards/ Good Medical Practice
Personal
* Works well within a multidisciplinary environment.
* Effective communication skills and ability to build / nurture a cohesive team.
* Good organisation skills (with examples).
* Resident within 30 minutes travel time to Preston / Chorley.
* Car owner/driver
Research and Development
* Evidence of interest in personal development e.g. through research and/or publications
Management
* Evidence of Clinical Leadership
* Evidence of commitment to audit and improving clinical practice/service development
* Previous experience of involvement in service development
Experience and Skills
* Ability to offer expert opinion on and take responsibility for elective Lower Limb Surgery emergency workload in Plastic Surgery
* Broad range of clinical experience in Lower Limb Surgeries
* Advanced Lower Limb reconstruction fellowship experience
