Financial Controller – Chester – Hybrid - £60k to £75k DOE + 10% Bonus + Car Allowance + Shares
A leading PLC organisation is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to report directly to the Finance Director and business partner with the site MD.
Key responsibilities include:
• Prepare and submit capital expenditure requests and commercially & financially appraise projects.
• Manage the reporting of financial information and accounts both internally and to plc head office.
• Review all data in the HFM group consolidation reporting system.
• Manage inventory reporting, monitor inventory days, prepare provisioning, and oversee the stock counting process & review.
• Manage and review tax treatment queries and submissions, understanding of Research & Development Credits, CIS, Reverse Charge & IR35.
• Manage local IT and ERP system and process changes.
• Utilise commercial skills to review current processes and look to drive efficiency whilst maintaining customer service across the business.
• Review construction contracts and liaise with external legal services to identify risks and negotiate with customers on final contracts.
• Manage and review the production of the management accounts for the Group companies.
• Oversee cash flow including payments and approval process and forecasting.
• Produce statutory accounts with outsourced Accountants as applicable and supporting information pack for our trading division.
• Liaise with external auditors to ensure all information is presented when requested.
• Liaise with internal auditors to ensure information is prepared and actions taken on any control weaknesses.
• Consider the controls environment on an ongoing basis to determine if appropriate.
• Manage the expense process to ensure returns are being reviewed correctly and VAT is being claimed as appropriate.
The successful Financial Controller will have the following skills, experience and qualifications:
• ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified.
• Significant, relevant experience in similar commercial finance positions within a PLC or large organisation ideally within a contract / construction environment.
• Process and systems change experience.
• Knowledge and experience of Sage and HFM and advanced-level proficiency in Excel; comfortable with macros, pivot tables, lookups and more.
• Understanding of commercial contracts and how to apply to finance.
• General Tax Knowledge.
• Ability to build relationships across a broad range of stakeholders.
• People Management Experience.
