TheMedical Assistant at Minnetonka MedicalClinic will manage the customer flow throughoutthe clinic and assist providers in the management and treatment oftheir customers. Customers come from a variety of backgrounds andvarious age groups requiring individualized care including infantschildren adolescents adults or geriatrics. The focus of the MedicalAssistant is on collaborative supportive and delegated tasks asdescribed in the Blaze Health Medical Assistant scope of practice.Delegable tasks and competencies are specific to the role of theSupervising Nurse and Supervising Provider and are described by theMinnesota Board of Nursing and the Minnesota Board of MedicalPractice. The Medical Assistant receives direction and collaborateswith the Clinic Supervisor Clinic Manager and Providers to meet thedefined goals of the customer shift department and organization.Communication with the health care team related to progressconcerns questions or problems that arise are an essential elementof the Medical Assistant role.
ClinicalCare:
The Medical Assistantwill perform clinical and clerical tasks to assist with themanagement of customer flow throughout the clinic. Tasks includestandard rooming processes giving immunizations injections andother medications as directed by the provider; and performinglaboratory specimen collection as needed. Dependent upon thespecialty and clinic location the Medical Assistant alsomay:
* Provide telephonesupport
* Facilitate communication betweencustomers and providers
* Assist withprescription refills
* Perform xray duties asassigned if individual has passed the xray operator exam
* Perform phlebotomy duties
* Performclinic laboratory tests
ClinicSupport:
The MedicalAssistant also may provide support to the clinic:
* Front desk/checkin support
* Ordering and stocking supplies
* Assistance with prior authorizations
Other:
* The team member is accountable to demonstrateproficiency for the skills outlined in the NMH Medical Assistantscope of Practice.
* Additional skills requiringcompetency evaluation are defined by Blaze Health and dependent onclinic.
* The team member is accountable tomaintain skill proficiency including improvement where deemednecessary and upgrading any additional or new skills on theappropriate position skills list.
* Acceptsother duties as assigned to promote the accomplishment oforganizational goals.
* The Medical Assistanttakes direction from the Physician Provider Registered Nurse ClinicSupervisor and Clinic Manager.

* Protects customer and team memberprivacy and only accesses customer and/or team memberrelatedinformation as needed to perform job duties.
* Reports violations or areas of concern to supervisor orCorporate Compliance Officer via established methods ofcommunication.
