History Specialist Cover Supervisor – Full-Time Role

Contract: Full-time, starting ASAP until the end of the academic year
Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week
Teaching Personnel is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a History Specialist Cover Supervisor to join a highly regarded secondary school in Stockport. Rated Good by Ofsted, the school is looking for a confident and enthusiastic individual to provide support within the History department and supervise lessons across other subjects when required. This role is ideal for History graduates or individuals with a strong passion for the subject, looking to gain classroom experience in a secondary school setting.
The Role:
As a History Specialist Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising History lessons and delivering pre-prepared lesson plans in the absence of the regular teacher. You will manage the classroom environment, ensuring students remain on task and engaged with the work provided. While you will not be required to plan or mark lessons, your role will be essential in maintaining a positive, productive learning environment.
Key responsibilities include:
* Supervising History lessons, ensuring that students follow the work set by the teacher.
* Managing classroom behaviour in line with the school’s policies and procedures.
* Supporting students in their learning, providing guidance where needed.
* Reporting lesson progress, engagement, and any incidents to the relevant teaching staff.
* Covering lessons in other subjects when required, while maintaining a productive learning atmosphere across a range of topics.
The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone who:
* Holds a degree in History or a related subject.
* Has a strong passion for History and education.
* Can confidently manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
* Is adaptable and able to work across various subjects and year groups.
* Has experience working with young people (in schools, tutoring, mentoring, or other settings), though full training will be provided.
