Knowledge Requirements
Essential
1. Must be able to demonstrate attitudes and behaviours consistent with the Trust expectations
2. Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
3. Flexible, caring and adaptable.
4. Demonstrable basic IT skills.
5. Demonstrate an ability to prioritise own workload and recognise, prioritise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations
6. Dexterity and accuracy in undertaking clinical skills, use of equipment and documentation.
Desirable
7. Audit or research within the clinical area
8. Demonstrate an ability to supervise and support others.
9. Demonstration of team working and ability to work within a team.
Qualifications-Academic/ Craft/ Professional
Essential
10. First Level Registered Nurse, with NMC Registration
11. Suitable teaching qualification / Mentoring Course
12. Completion of all local competencies relevant to role and specialty, this includes CC3N Steps 1-3
13. Post Grad Certificate in Critical Care.
14. Advanced Life Support Certificate held or Booked
Desirable
15. Continuing Professional Development
16. Formal Leadership and or Management Training.
Experience
Essential
17. Significant post registration experience, including some experience within specialty
18. Ability to manage the clinical area or ward efficiently and effectively
19. Demonstrate an understanding of the Band 6 Team Co-ordinator role
20. Significant experience at band 5
21. Supervision of non-registered staff, students and newly qualified, registered nurses.
Desirable
22. Demonstrate active involvement in link/champion roles, or project work.
23. Research training / experience.
24. Recent or current experience within Critical Care.
25. Demonstrate experience of effectively leading a team.
26. Demonstrate strong leadership skills, the ability to prioritise workload, manage time well and delegate appropriately.
27. Successful implementation and management of a service improvement project.
