The role:
The working hours of the role will be Monday to Friday 9am to 5.15pm.
We are looking for a Legal Assistant to join our friendly, supportive private client team in Harpenden. It is a busy role working alongside another assistant supporting a team of Private Client solicitors. It requires a highly organised individual with the ability to multi-task, prioritise and remain calm under pressure.
Key duties and responsibilities:
1. Archiving, scanning files and when needed, arrange retrieval.
2. Preparation of forms, documents, emails and letters.
3. Handling client queries, liaising with third parties and making file notes of conversations.
4. Diary management.
5. Regular face to face contact with clients.
6. Management of Wills and Deeds database.
7. Undertake administrative duties, such as photocopying and scanning.
8. Scanning incoming post and dealing with matters arising.
9. Filing and post duties.
10. Maintain a tidy, organised workspace.
11. Working as part of a team in Harpenden but also the wider department in the other offices.
Skills and attributes:
1. Previous experience working as a legal assistant role is preferred, ideally within Private Client.
2. Understand the importance of providing high standards of client care.
3. Excellent communication skills; provides a professional service whilst being compassionate when dealing with sensitive issues.
4. Demonstrates persistence and commitment to completing tasks and objectives.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. Fast typing speed with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
