Responsible to: Setting Manager + Deputy Manager
Responsible for: Delivering a high standard of exciting learning, development & care for children aged 3-4 whilst providing hands-on leadership to the staff within the classroom.
Walton Pre School is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Room Leader to join our team and inspire excellence each day. This position is based in our 3-4 year old room, which can accommodate up to 16 children in the school readiness phase of development. As Room Leader, you will work collaboratively with other room leaders to ensure the smooth running and positive transitions across the setting while contributing to an inspiring, nurturing, and welcoming high-quality provision.

Responsibilities:
1. To be a role model to the staff team, showcasing high-quality practice and motivating the staff.
2. Provide stimulating and purposeful experiences, environments, and resources to children that are age-appropriate and stage of development.
3. Be responsible for providing a high quality of teaching and learning, ensuring that staff are properly deployed and offer appropriate stimulation, including physical, cognitive, social, and emotional.
4. Demonstrate excellent behaviour management practice and guide and support staff for a consistent approach.
5. Support and develop an enabling environment using both the indoor and outdoor spaces effectively.
6. Be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of staff as a Room Leader.
7. Ensure records are properly maintained, e.g., daily attendance register, accident/incident records, and safeguarding forms.
8. Ensure weekly planning encompasses team members' activities, relates to topics, themes, and children's interests, as well as differentiation of activities to support children with special educational needs.
9. In partnership with the Setting Manager/Deputy Manager and other room leaders, assist in drawing up long-term, medium-term, and seasonal curriculum plans that take into account the requirements of the EYFS; monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the pre-school curriculum.
10. Assist the Manager/Deputy Manager to undertake staff observations and provide constructive feedback to staff.
11. Promote equality and diversity within the Pre School, challenging behaviour, language, and practice which does not support inclusive practice.
12. Abide by the Pre School's code of confidentiality at all times.
13. Contribute to and implement all pre-school policies and procedures, especially those on equal opportunities and confidentiality.
14. Attend training and meetings as required.
15. Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Management Team in accordance with the pre-school business plan/objectives, including recruitment and induction of staff; also ensuring students and volunteers receive adequate mentoring.

Person Specification:
1. A minimum of Level 3 qualification in childcare.
2. Ability to showcase excellent childcare practice.
3. Sound understanding of child development and of children's needs.
4. Ability to plan and implement a pre-school curriculum, taking into account the SEN Code of Practice, safeguarding procedures, and equal opportunity considerations.
5. Ability to work with parents and encourage their involvement.
6. Commitment to and understanding of ENCO.
7. Ability to manage self and work calmly under pressure.
8. Ability to communicate effectively with a range of people.
9. Demonstrate professionalism in approach to managing all issues.
10. An enhanced DBS check which confirms suitability to work with children.
11. Health clearance for the role.
