About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and personable Science Teacher to join our team at a Specialist Independent school in Burstow, a calm and supportive environment for students aged 11-18 with SEMH. In this role, you will teach Science up to basic GCSE level in small classes (up to 10 pupils), ensuring that each student receives the attention and support they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver engaging science lessons that cater to the diverse needs of pupils with SEMH.
* Support students in developing their academic and personal potential, encouraging positive behaviours and attitudes towards learning.
* Manage classroom behaviour effectively, creating a safe and structured environment where students can thrive.
* Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and parents to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
* Adapt teaching methods to suit the individual needs of each pupil, promoting their emotional well-being alongside academic progress.
* Maintain accurate records of student progress, including behavioural and academic achievements.
About You:
* A Science teacher with a passion for working with young people, especially those with SEMH needs.
* Personable, empathetic, and able to build strong, trusting relationships with students.
* Experienced in managing challenging behaviour and using positive behaviour strategies.
* Patient, resilient, and adaptable to the ever-changing needs of students.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
* Understanding of the challenges faced by young people with SEMH and a commitment to supporting them in reaching their full potential.
