The Role
The successful applicant will have experience of teaching or employment in the field of key skills within Science, Humanities, Art, Modern Languages or Professional Development. You will be able to deliver modules in subject areas offered by the Lifelong Learning Department. You will understand the needs of adult learners and the need for adults to continue their learning and continuous professional development. The successful applicant will undertake preparation and delivery of course content, face-to-face and online teaching, promotion of courses, assessment and administration. Classes will be delivered using Blackboard Ultra, Teams – our online virtual learning and communication environments or Face to Face.
What you’ll do
* Devise and implement an appropriate student learning experience in line with LLL and University quality assurance guidelines.
* Prepare the learning environment on Blackboard Ultra and Microsoft Teams in advance of teaching (subject specific).
* Deliver the course content in the most effective method and provide ample support and guidance to students.
* Maximise recruitment to LLL courses by publicising and promoting your own course(s) and participating in general marketing activities and events.
* Provide appropriate pastoral support for students.
* Complete risk assessment documentation (when appropriate).
* Contact the relevant coordinators and administration team in relation to class enrolments.
* Undertake administrative work associated with classes, including completing class register, course content, enrolment, feedback and evaluation forms, assignment marks, etc. in accordance with LLL requirements and within stated timescales.
* Undertake all existing and new Quality Assurance processes associated with the courses and study schemes e.g. preparing assessment tasks, marking, providing written and verbal feedback and submitting all of the above for moderation within the given timescales.
* Be involved in curriculum development and have experience of in-person, online/distance and/or blended learning and the audience needs.
* Attend induction and staff training events for tutors.
* Undertake in-house training as required.
* Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions as required.
* Deliver effective teaching and assessment units for Higher Education courses at NQFW4.
* Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post.

* Any other reasonable duties requested commensurate with the grade of this role.
Who you are – Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills required
Essential
1. Recent professional experience within the subject areas offered.
2. A first degree in the subject area.
3. Recent teaching experience.
4. An understanding of the role relating to: marketing, student support requirements, engagement, motivation and learning strategies.
5. Knowledge and experience of assessment of post-16 education and strategies that are inclusive of neurodiverse learners.
6. High level of written communication and skills in online learning packages, Panopto, Microsoft and Blackboard.
7. Oral (spoken) and Written Welsh Level A1 or an ability to understand the bilingual nature of the University and an awareness of the procedures in place to support working bilingually.
Desirable
1. MA in subject area.
2. Training or leadership skills.
3. Oral (spoken) and Written Welsh Level C1.
