I am now supporting Doncaster City Council with the recruitment of a Registered Manager in their various care homes.
The successful candidate will lead and manage a team of Residential Staff, requiring a clear and thorough working knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, including guidance to the regulations, the Children’s Act 2004, and Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023, as well as a clear understanding of Ofsted requirements and the inspection framework.
This strategic role will require the successful candidate to consider quality assurance, performance, impact, team building, cultural awareness within organisations, change management, and innovation. Experience of managing significant budgets and a large staff team is essential. As part of the wider leadership team across the Council, you will be responsible for improving experiences of children in care and ensuring children’s voice is central to and supports service development.
You must have extensive experience of working with Children in Care as a Registered Manager achieving good and outstanding Ofsted Gradings or as a Deputy Manager looking at the next chapter in your career.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Hold an Ofsted registration confirming that you are a fit person to manage a children’s home.
2. Manage the budget and resources effectively, ensuring the efficient running of the home.
3. Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, their families, professionals, and the wider community, promoting open communication and collaboration.
4. Act as safeguarding lead for the home, responsible for implementing and monitoring all safeguarding practices.
5. Organise the duty rota to ensure adequate staff cover at all times.
6. Ensure the implementation of robust care plans tailored to the individual needs and aspirations of each child, promoting their personal development and wellbeing.
7. Monitor and evaluate the quality of care and support provided, conducting regular audits and implementing improvement strategies to maintain high standards in line with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.
8. Manage the supervision and mentoring of the staff team, providing training and regular appraisals to ensure they have the necessary skills to provide appropriate care to the children within the home.
9. Ensure compliance under the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and within the Ofsted framework for inspection.
10. Ensure the appropriate assessment and admission of all children into the home is carried out.
11. Act as the building manager for the home, ensuring compliance with Fire, Environmental, and H&S regulations.
12. Manage the recruitment and induction of new colleagues to ensure they have the opportunity to develop in the role and provide the best quality care to the children.
13. Demonstrate commitment to continuing professional development of yourself and your team.
You will need:
* At least 2 years’ experience of working with children in a residential setting who have challenging emotional behaviour within the last 5 years.
* Worked for at least 1 year in a role which requires management and supervision of people in care roles.
* Up-to-date knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and the quality standards.
* Level 3 QCF Children & Young People or equivalent.
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Care or willingness to obtain.
This is a 37-hour post and is £44401 - £48356 depending on experience.
