Workshop Recruitment are looking for experienced roofers to work on maintenance contracts in the Portsmouth area. You may be required to work in the wider Hampshire area from time to time. This is for one of our clients whose property portfolio includes, but is not limited to, Social Housing, Schools, Public Conveniences, Offices, Heritage Sites, and Museums.
The key activities you will undertake in this role will include a wide variety of roofing repairs at occupied homes, buildings, and empty properties. The work will include pitch and flat roof repairs, including the replacement of tiles, felt, eave trays, lead repairs/replacement, mineral sheet repairs/replacement (torch on), and non-licensed asbestos removal (where full training will be given).
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
1. NVQ level 2-3 in roofing or equivalent.
2. Trade-based experience may be considered.
3. Clean, Manual, Driving License.
4. A DBS/Criminal Background check will be completed prior to employment starting.
5. 2 - 5 years experience of working in Social Housing or Building Maintenance environment.
6. Ability to work at height.
7. Demonstrate competency as a tradesperson and have the necessary tools to perform the work.
8. Prerequisite technical, statutory, and legislative knowledge for the trades performed, ensuring to keep abreast of updates and changes.
9. Knowledge of materials and methods used in the building and maintenance industry, particularly working on historic/listed buildings.
10. Comfortable dealing with residents/building representatives while maintaining professionalism.
11. Understand the importance of completing outstanding pieces of work efficiently.
12. Ability to self-manage and be self-motivated, prioritizing and programming work efficiently.
13. Excellent customer service skills (Essential).
