This is an Operational Lead role to support the Patient Pathway Co-ordinators (PPC), MDT Co-ordinators, Assistant PPC, Admin Support and Data officers.
The Candidate Will Assist The Cancer Information Managers In:
1. Acting as the Operational contact point for the Patient Pathway Co-ordinators (PPC), MDT Co-ordinators, Assistant PPC, Admin Support and Data officers.
2. To be responsible for the accurate collection of cancer waiting times information. This is achieved through the effective supervision of Patient Pathway Coordinators in conjunction with the Cancer Information Managers in order to ensure that accurate, complete data is collected and through the use of highly-developed specialist knowledge and experience in the maintenance and development of the Trust’s Somerset Cancer Register and data collection procedures.
3. To monitor this information and to work with the Cancer Information Managers for dissemination in order to meet cancer waiting times targets.
4. Support the Patient Pathway Co-ordinator’s / MDT Co-ordinators in the collection and upload of the National Clinical Audits.
5. Support the Patient Pathway Co-ordinator’s / MDT Co-ordinators in the collection and upload of the National Cancer Peer Review.
6. Undertake direct line management responsibilities on a day to day basis with regards to the Patient Pathway Co-ordinators (PPC), MDT Co-ordinators, Assistant PPC, Admin Support and Data officers.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Actively support the Trust’s Patient Pathway Co-ordinators (PPC), MDT Co-ordinators, Assistant PPC, Admin Support and Data officers in maintaining a clear overview of all patients currently active in their pathway. Will be able to produce, analyse and present information on this at the weekly Cancer PTL meetings.
* Analyse, interpret and present data to the Cancer Information Managers and the weekly Cancer PTL to highlight any issues with clinical capacity or medical staffing and support the Directorate’s in decision making processes relating to these areas.
* To work alongside the Cancer Information Managers in recruitment, induction and training of newly appointed Patient Pathway Co-ordinators (PPC), MDT Co-ordinators, Assistant PPC, Admin Support and Data officers.
* Ensure that good practice is identified and shared within the Patient Pathway Co-ordinators (PPC), MDT Co-ordinators, Assistant PPC, Admin Support and Data officers team. Using the highest degree of motivational and negotiating skills to ensure an atmosphere of collaboration whilst working towards the continuous improvement in a challenging and demanding environment.
Extensive knowledge of the NHS cancer plan, NHS cancer peer review measures, and to be an expert in the cancer waiting times is required. Finding breach reasons will require the candidate to analyse and research many complex systems.
