Main duties of the job
We are looking for someone to work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the contract.
Working 6 sessions a week.
Protected PLT Sessions.
6 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays.
Furthermore, the post holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, and maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.
An interest in education would be advantageous.
About us
We are a rural dispensing practice with a 6,350 list size, situated in a lovely village in Northamptonshire. We also operate a satellite surgery in the next village of West Haddon.
Supported by three GP partners, two salaried GPs, a Clinical Pharmacist, one Advanced Nurse Practitioner, three practice nurses, a phlebotomist, and a dedicated administration, reception, and dispensing team.
On the Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Leicestershire border (M1, close to Jct 18) with excellent transport links, beautiful countryside, villages, canal, and good schools nearby.
Easy access to towns, cities, and local hospitals in Northampton, Coventry, Rugby, Leicester, Milton Keynes, Cambridge, and Birmingham.
We are an active member of the Northants Rural PCN.
Job responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
Primary Responsibilities
1. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population.
2. The provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract.
3. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process.
4. Prepare and complete the revalidation process.
5. Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team.
6. Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines.
7. Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure.
8. Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies.
9. Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, and always promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
10. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance.
11. Effective management of long-term conditions.
12. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests, and other associated administrative tasks.
13. On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles.
14. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy, and guidance.
15. Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload.
16. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process.
17. Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice.
18. Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) of the QOF.
19. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required.
20. Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training.
Secondary Responsibilities
1. Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit lead.
2. Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care.
3. Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach i.e., root cause analysis (RCA).
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Qualified GP.
* MRCGP.
* Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP.
* General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT).
* Full GMC registration.
* National Performers List registration.
* Appropriate defence indemnity (MPS/MDU).
* Evidence of current validation.
* Evidence of last appraisal.
* Eligibility to practice in the UK independently.
Experience
* Experience of working in a primary care environment.
* Experience of continued professional development.
* Experience of QOF and clinical audit.
* Minimum of two years as a salaried GP.
* General understanding of the primary care contract.
* Clinical knowledge and skills.
* Outstanding level of clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with that of an experienced GP.
