Job Description LOCATION - Derby TERM - Permanent SALARY - £35,000 to £40,000 per annum (plus benefits) My client manufactures a range of mechanical products for highly regulated industries. They are looking to expand their design team by taking on a Mechanical Design Engineer to work in their offices in Derby. The Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes: Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering Engineering qualification (BEng, MEng, HND, HNC, BSc etc.) in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar Excellent 3D CAD skills Experience working in highly regulated industries such as Rail, Defence, Nuclear, Aerospace, Medical etc. Proficiency in AutoCAD 3D Modelling preferred but not essential Be able to work well individually as well as part of a team Have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) Be keen to develop with a company long term Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite The Design Engineer role will involve: Preparing fully detailed design submissions Creating and updating GA, site layout, and P&ID drawings using AutoCAD Preparing manufacturing/fabrication drawings & BOM lists Modelling piping systems for optimal performance Preparing and submitting Network Rail Forms 1, 2 & 3 Preparing O&M manuals and Installation manuals Writing technical content for O&M manuals Obtaining quotations from external supply chain Defining Technical Workscopes for Client/Internal Projects Specifying technical Workscopes for suppliers Preparing inspection and test plans, as well as testing and commissioning plans Assisting with initial tender design submissions Assisting and preparing tender submissions, visiting customer sites and offices Responding to technical queries throughout tender and contract deliverables Carrying our site surveys Visiting customer sites during testing & commissioning for verification sign-off Visiting suppliers for equipment sign-off Package and Benefit Collaborative and innovative work environment Opportunities for career growth and development Training and additional courses as needed Home/office working Full IT to fulfil the role Company Pension 25 days annual leave, plus 8 statutory bank holidays Early finish on Fridays If you would be interested in finding out more about this position, please send me an up-to-date copy of your CV or call Sean Murphy on 0118 228 3954.
