This post is ideally suited to a senior trainee (ST5) who has limited experience of the procedures we offer and who wishes to add further specialist clinical, management and potentially research skills to their portfolio prior to taking up a definitive Consultant post with an interest in Pleural Disease/Intervention/Lung Cancer but equally registrars in training who wish increase their repertoire of procedural skills whilst consolidating their respiratory training. A pre-requisite for this post is that applicants shouldideallybe independent at standard fibre-optic bronchoscopy and RCR Level 1 thoracic USS or BTS thoracic ultrasound primary operator pathway. The Pleural & Interventional Bronchoscopy Service The Pleural & Interventional Service consists of the following; Two weekly specialist Pleural Clinics seeing a wide spectrum of patients referred with pleural effusions and pneumothorax A weekly, all day dedicated Advanced Bronchoscopy (EBUS) and thoracoscopy/IPC interventions list. A further 5 bronchoscopy lists/week delivered by a variety of Consultants A dedicated procedures room with thoracic USS (inc portable machine) A pleural themed respiratory ward X2 pleural nurse specialists with daily ambulatory pleural reviews on Ward 29 Pleural research nurse Close liaison with thoracic surgeons on site A weekly Lung Cancer & Mesothelioma MDT
