Location: Stratford, London Office-based with high flexibility (1-2 days per week in the office)

The Role
As an Investment Analyst, you will interface broadly across the charity to identify, evaluate and develop new spin-out opportunities to the point that they are validated, investment ready, and established.
What will I be doing?
* Promote Cancer Research Horizons Ventures activities and the Seed Fund and support the identification of potential spin-out and investment opportunities through a variety of channels including attending presentations, conferences, industry events, and networking with entrepreneurs, academics and industry experts.
* Evaluate potential spin-out and investment opportunities, including undertaking scientific, technical, commercial and IP diligence.
* Work with founders, Cancer Research Horizons colleagues and external advisors to develop business and investment strategy to build strong investment cases for emerging new spin-out opportunities.
* Prepare investment cases and papers for the investment committee.
* Support the team develop relationships with a network of potential co-investors to build high-value investor syndicates.
* Working with internal teams, support negotiations of investment and shareholder-related legal documentation.
* Keep appraised of industry and institutional trends and developments to aid business judgment and support the development of the wider team.
* Conduct research into new trends and technologies to inform our spin-out and investment focus.
What are you looking for?
* Strong scientific background to PhD (or equivalent experience) level in a life science, medical or healthcare discipline.
* Experience of technology commercialisation in one or more of therapeutic, MedTech, diagnostic or healthcare sectors.
* Broad knowledge and awareness of oncology drug/technology discovery and development and associated science.
* Ability to grasp and report varied new scientific and technical concepts quickly, and design, develop and critique sound business strategies based on scientific, commercial and financial analysis.
* Strong organisational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
