Cheshire West & Chester Council’s Refugee & Asylum Seeker (RAS) team has been established to oversee the refugee resettlement schemes that are operational in the borough including Homes for Ukraine Scheme, Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme, Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy and Asylum Seeker Dispersal. The RAS team has specific responsibility to support the integration of refugees and asylum seekers in the borough, aligning it’s work with the Council’s aspiration of becoming a Council of Sanctuary, providing resettlement and integration support by assisting households and individuals to achieve positive outcomes and prevent homelessness. The Resettlement Support Officer will provide individual support plans to each household or family, which include advice, support and signposting for resettled refugees and asylum seekers with complex needs to help them adjust to life in the UK, ensuring existing services and mainstream provision are accessed and to promote and establish community links and integration. Duties will include maintaining, updating and managing the Homes for Ukraine (HfU) scheme databases which contain confidential and sensitive information on HfU guests and sponsors. Ensuring the web based case management system, the Foundry, is kept up to date with accuracy and relevant checks and information monitoring is competed. Maintaining effective procedures and auditable record keeping that adheres to the Council’s Standing Orders and Financial Regulations Experience supporting and assessing vulnerable people is preferred, Experience working with asylum seekers and refugees would be beneficial. It is essential that you: Experience of working with vulnerable people, assessing need, and documenting support. Experience of working with the Homes for Ukraine scheme Experience of working within a multi-agency framework Effective communication skills and possess excellent time management skills. Understanding of immigration and Refugee Resettlement programmes. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages. Experience of using Foundry system Good knowledge of Data Protection/Confidentiality, safeguarding policies, and procedures such as Child Protection, Safeguarding Adults and MARAC.
