Location: Flexible- role can be based within our regional patch (Kent, Sussex, Hampshire or Isle of Wight) Driving licence essential, travel between sites across SW region is required- 4 days site/ office and remaining WFH

We are currently recruiting for an Initiatives Delivery Lead - Bioresources who will be part of the Wastewater Treatment function supporting all of our treatment sites in improving the biosolids processes. Your role will be instrumental in impacting and improving the efficiency of our anaerobic digestion and sludge treatment processes, enabling better value for our customers by reducing our operational spend whilst improving our environmental performance.
A key part of this will be on-site engagement and enabling teams to use established continuous improvement frameworks to drive clear results that have a holistic benefit across safety, performance, and cost. Inputting into the prioritisation of our planned capital investment programme within the bioresources operation and to provide the required level of insight to target investment at the most effective areas to maintain a safe, resilient, and efficient system. You will be drawing together performance reporting across the sludge logistics, thickening, dewatering, digestion, power generation and final dewatering operations to drive performance accountability for the frontline teams and insight for continuous improvement prioritisation.
Your overall accountabilities would include:
1. Working on continuous improvement project engagement, scoping, delivery, and tracking with particular focus on engagement to enable execution, rather than execution – spearheading our Elimination of Waste program.
2. Producing performance data and insight at a site, region and organisational level.
3. Managing any assigned projects to provide the deliverables needed by the organisation.
4. Inputting into, prioritising, maintaining, reviewing, and administrating Direct Managed Capex planned program for Bioresources.
5. Checking for consistent approaches across the region for similar tasks and promoting best practice techniques.
Working within a small team of specialists dealing with wastewater and biosolids treatment, who are a supportive and growing team in size, knowledge and responsibilities. No one day is the same in this busy role! You have the freedom to manage your own time, fully empowered, impactful opportunity to make a big difference to the operational team and the environment creating efficient processes to make your work purposeful! This role is a great chance to be involved with our Engineering & Construction teams, becoming familiar with sites all across our operational region and exploring the world of project management or moving on to a leadership role in the long run.
To be successful in this role, you would need to excel technically but particularly be great at working with teams of people, enabling change and engaging to drive performance. A strong background and working knowledge in biosolids, to an expert level within anaerobic digestion processes and associated treatment processes, with the ability to understand root cause analysis. It will be desirable if you have Degree or equivalent knowledge in Engineering or Wastewater treatment. Below are further skills and competencies required for the role:
6. Excellent collaborator working with people, facilitation of work groups to come up with the answers to often complex problems.
7. Proficient with Microsoft office: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word with excellent analytical and data handling skills.
8. Able to communicate at all levels, allowing for different audiences, comfortable discussing technical detail but also be able to take a management overview and cut through to the key messages.
9. Solid and demonstrable experience of successful execution of operational improvement activities.
10. Resilient under pressure and able to work in a constantly changing environment.
11. An ability to influence decision makers and drive change in the behaviour of others
12. Good understanding of Bioresources processes.
