An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Receptionist to join the team at UpperHalliford Medical Centre. The successful candidate will ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and visitors to the practice, both face to face and over the telephone.
Hours:
Monday 13:30 - 18:30
Friday 13:30 - 18:30
20 hours per week over three days, some flexibility in hours will be required.
24 months fixed term contract
Main duties of the job
1. Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice.
2. Deal with all general enquiries, explain processes and make new and follow-up appointments.
3. Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover, ensuring completion of paperwork as appropriate.
4. Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
5. Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.
6. Enter patient information on to the computer system as required.
7. When last to leave at the end of the day, ensure that the building is fully secured, internal lights are off and the alarm activated.
8. Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as directed by the Reception Supervisor or Practice Manager.

Qualifications
* NVQ in Business Administration or equivalent
* Experience of working in a GP practice
Experience
* Good interpersonal and communication skills
* Experience in a reception or administrative role is preferred.
