Job Summary Apprentices will be trained to a level where after three years they will be on the way to becoming skilled members of either the manufacturing, maintenance, quality or assembly team. They will work alongside skilled professionals and be mentored throughout the 4 year apprenticeship. Attending college on mainly a full time basis during Year 1 and on a day release basis thereafter they are expected to gain and develop key skills which will lead to recognised qualifications required by the business. Start date for all Apprenticeships will be September 2025 Responsibilities for Machine Shop Duties will include but not be limited to: Carry out a broad range of machining techniques on lathes, mills and drills. Deburr, engrave and clean manufactured components. Complete all necessary quality documentation associated with the work being conducted. Work in accordance with health and safety requirements. Attend the technical college and complete assignments in a timely manner and to an appropriate standard. Learn and understand metal cutting technology and processes for the training elements under review. Perform office based activities covering design, procurement, production engineering and inventory control. Perform other such duties commensurate with the nature and level of the post as may be reasonably required. Responsibilities for Assembly Duties will include but not be limited to: Assembly and test of valves and sub-assemblies. Welding. Attend the technical college and complete assignments in a timely manner and to an appropriate standard. Learn and understand metal cutting technology and processes for the training elements under review. Office based activities supporting design, procurement, production engineering and inventory control. Work in a safe, tidy manner in line with Company policy. Work in accordance with health and safety requirements. Perform other such duties commensurate with the nature and level of the post as may be reasonably required. The Person Essential Criteria 5 GCSE’s (grade 4-5 or above) in Science, Mathematics and English (or equivalent). Ability to work well within a team whilst having the confidence to work on own initiative. Ability to focus on learning new skills and prepared to undertake learning on a daily basis. Enthusiasm, drive and commitment to a career within Engineering. High level of attention to detail. Good verbal and written communication. Able to understand and follow work instructions; procedures, story boards etc. Good levels of manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination. PC literate.
