Are you an advocate for mental health? Do you feel passionate about helping children who struggle with theirs? Then this is the opportunity for you!
A wonderful school in Gloucester is looking for a Mental Health Support Worker. The school is looking to employ an individual who is patient, passionate about education, and eager to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children. The role would start immediately or as soon as possible.
What you would do as a Mental Health Support Worker:
The role will primarily involve supporting students in the classroom with their mental health.
These students have trouble processing and regulating their emotions, stemming from childhood trauma, which can cause stress, anxiety, and depression. You will help them process and regulate their emotions. The school is seeking someone who is patient and ideally has a passion for mental health.
You will be shadowing the class teacher and providing support with general classroom duties. You will also have the opportunity to engage with like-minded individuals and professionals in the education and mental health fields.
The successful Mental Health Support Worker:
The successful candidate will need to be open-minded, resilient, confident, and determined to help others. Flexibility and the ability to adapt your role to fit the needs of each child are essential. Previous experience working with children with mental health needs is desirable but not essential; a good attitude and passion for making a difference are most important.
This is a great opportunity to gain valuable and rewarding experience while making an impact, as well as being exposed to a variety of teaching methods and techniques to help children with their mental health needs. You will also have the chance to shadow other professionals in the field and explore different specialties.
