Language: Lithuanian Position: Face-to-face Police Interpreter in Merseyside. LanguageLine Solutions Company, is an employment business seeking professional interpreters with demonstrated experience and/or verifiable training & certification to serve our growing client base in the healthcare, government services and educational sectors throughout Merseyside. This position seeks independent freelancers to fill assignments on an as needed basis. Interpreters will travel to the clients’ location to provide interpreting services face-to-face. Summary of Position: The face-to-face Interpreter is responsible for traveling to client sites by appointment, and renders the meaning of conversations in the consecutive mode of interpretation between the target language and English speakers. The interpreter processes information quickly and concisely, recognizes sensitive cultural differences and is professional and courteous at all times. The interpreter uses appropriate terminology and understands common industry procedures and practices. Interpreting assignments may be technical or non-technical in the following fields: healthcare, government services and education. Location: Assignments will take place at the client locations throughout Merseyside. Major Responsibilities: The interpreter must: Render correct concepts and meanings according to the conventions of established interpretation protocol Provide clear and accurate renditions with no additions or omissions Employ good customer service and clear enunciation, pronunciation, pleasant and professional voice as well as polite forms of expression Follow client’s instructions, manage the flow of the communication and avoid taking over the communication, as well as avoid interaction with the Limited English proficiency speaker without client's permission Understand protocol and terminology in the healthcare industry Maintain a professional demeanor throughout the assignment at all times Have access to the Internet or work related electronic communication Provide clarification and cultural brokering using excellent judgment and skill Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment Educational Level: (preferred) Bachelors and/or Masters degree in Languages, Translation, Interpretation, Philology, Linguistics or related fields Ph.D. or Doctoral in Languages, Philology, Linguistic or related fields NRPSI (National Register of Public Service Interpreters) DPSI (Diploma of Public Service Interpreting) DPI (Diploma Police Interpreting) Work Experience: Written translation and/or interpretation Localization, bilingual publishing, media organizations, schools and/or similar bilingual settings Living and/or studying in a bilingual environment One year of work experience in industries for which LanguageLine Solutions provides interpretation (preferred) Essential Requirements: Resident of the UK for 3 years (NPPV3 vetting requirements) OPEN UNTIL FILLED EEO/AA Equal Opportunity Employer.
