The role: As an Infrastructure Engineer you will work with VMWare and Storage tools across a range of projects. This role is crucial in delivering a performant, cost-effective, and resilient server, backup, and storage environment that supports critical business functions. Day-to-day: Install, upgrade, configure, and document new Server, Storage, and Backup systems according to planned projects and standards. Provide 2nd/3rd line support for Server, Storage, and Backup services, liaising with internal and external groups, manufacturers, and suppliers to maintain system functionality, reliability, and availability. Evaluate opportunities for greater efficiency and optimisation within the Server, Storage, and Backup infrastructure to reduce costs. Identify potential problems and trends within the environments and implement proactive strategies to minimise service-affecting issues. Conduct Root Cause Analysis of service-affecting issues to prevent repeat occurrences. Required Skills & Qualifications: Experience of building and deploying Windows Server 2012/2016 within a Datacentre environment. In-depth knowledge of Active Directory, including GPO configuration and troubleshooting Experience with VMWare (ESX, VCenter, VDI) Experience with Enterprise backup and/or Storage products Strong experience in troubleshooting day-to-day issues within an Enterprise Client/Server Infrastructure. Strong understanding of TCP/DNS/DHCP and general networking concepts.
