Position Overview: This position provides support to the VP – Capital Markets to effectively manage the participation portfolio. Responsibilities include analyzing the creditworthiness of individuals or businesses to determine the risk involved in lending money or extending credit and making recommendations for loan approvals to Loan Committee. Completes due diligence; prepares loan narratives; monitors the participation loan portfolio; performs trend analysis; prepares various credit reports; supports sold loan database and builds relationships with others in the capital markets industry.
Responsibilities:
* Coordinates with participants to obtain and/or provide financial information needed to document files and support credit evaluations.
* Verifies credit and borrowers’ financial information. Obtains loan documentation and supporting information needed to complete the loan analysis of the credit action.
* Analyzes financial information including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow summary to form an opinion of the strengths, weaknesses, and risks associated with extending credit to large complex Agribusiness and Commercial loans while taking into consideration Association underwriting standards and fundamental credit factors.
* Prepares loan packages and provides recommendations for loan approval or denial with the consensus of the Credit Department on new requests, loan refinancing and loan servicing actions.
* Responsible for communication and coordination of lending activities with VP – Capital Markets, Capital Markets Analyst, and sometimes other participants/partners.
* Completes loan requirements including but not limited to borrowing bases, covenant compliance, monitoring, and loan servicing plan requirements.
* Assists in the growth of a quality participation loan portfolio.
* Works closely with the VP – Capital Markets in developing and enhancing credit analysis, preparation of various credit reports and projects as necessary, and lending functions of the Association.
* Appropriately protects the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the Association, employees, customers, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, business administration, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field.
* Minimum of 5 years previous Commercial Credit underwriting experience. Prefer agricultural background or aptitude. Proficient computer skills.
* Knowledge of credit extension, credit administration, and portfolio management procedures.
* Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills.
* Ability to analyze complex credits and commercial loan packages independently, working well under pressure.
* Skill in writing reports of which are suitable for use of management, the Board and for publication.
* Oral and written communication skills sufficient to discuss a variety of job-related topics, and to effectively communicate complex topics to a variety of audiences.
