We have an opportunity for an individual to join our team as a plant operator. The role is based at Allerton Waste Recovery Park near Knaresborough (HG5). In this role you will be trained and given the skills to perform a variety of cross-functional skilled technical duties to ensure ongoing operation and productivity of the facility. We are looking to train someone to operate the baler, drive mobile plant such as a forklift truck / front-loaded shovel, and operate an overhead grab crane.
* Must have a full and valid driving license
* Salary for the role is £30,000 per annum
* Weekly shift pattern of 6am-2pm / 2pm – 10pm (Monday – Friday)
* Opportunity for Saturday overtime – time and a half
* Forklift truck license (essential)
Key Responsibilities
* Operation of the baler machine
* Operating the overhead crane
* Reporting any HSE hazards or incidents to the Shift Supervisor / Lead Supervisor
* Operating mobile plant, including forklift truck, telehandler, front-loading shovel, and 360 excavators
* Performing first-line maintenance on equipment
* Management and removal of the IBA (Incinerated Bottom Ash)
* Maintaining clean working conditions in the fuel reception area, tipping hall, and delivery routes
* Carrying out waste inspections and reporting non-conforming waste
* Loading collection vehicles and static plant
* Report all Near Misses, Incidents, Safety, and Environmental concerns using Thalia’s Airsweb System
* Maintain housekeeping standards throughout the facility
* Ensure that all waste is handled and received in accordance with the company procedures and legislation.
* Ensure that all tools, mobile plant, and equipment checks are carried out on a daily basis and maintained in proper working condition, with defects reported to the Shift Team Leader.
* Control the feeding process of waste into the treatment lines to ensure required treatment efficiencies
* Ensure the welfare and safety of all operatives working in the team and ensure that all work is carried out in full compliance with health, safety, welfare, and environmental regulatory requirements.
