The Opportunity

Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.
We have a fantastic opportunity for the Waste Manager at Sizewell C.

The Role
Join the Sizewell C project as the Waste Manager, driving efficient waste management operations for one of the UK's most significant construction projects. Lead the management of a high-value waste contract, ensuring top-notch safety, quality, and sustainability. You'll oversee waste reduction initiatives, coordinate with project contractors, monitor environmental impact, and handle budgets for services up to £100m. Shape and innovate waste solutions, boost recycling, and reduce landfill.

Areas of responsibility will not necessarily be limited to the main Sizewell C construction site but will likely include a few off-site associated developments.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain in-depth knowledge of waste legislation and apply expertise from experience in large-scale waste management organizations.
Utilise recent and relevant knowledge in service supply environments to enhance waste management operations.
Oversee and develop project packages with budgets up to £100m, leveraging proven project management skills.
Apply significant management experience gained on construction sites, industrial plants, or high-hazard industries.
Ensure successful delivery within large-scale project environments, meeting timelines and budget expectations.
Develop and implement strategies for dynamic, fast-paced project delivery.
Engage positively with stakeholders, both internal and external, through strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Tackle complex issues strategically, contributing to a cohesive "one team" approach within the local supply chain vision.
Chair Monthly Waste Management meetings with the contractor’s waste leads.
Liaise regularly with the Environment Agency.
Essential skills
In debt knowledge of waste legislation and proven experience within a large-scale waste management organisation.
Recent and relevant In-depth knowledge and experience in a Service Supply environment.
Project management experience of working with and developing similar sized packages of work relating to expected budget of up to £100m.
Significant management experience on a construction site, other industrial plant or other high hazard industry.
Proven track record of delivery within a large project environment.
Ability to develop a strategy and deliver projects in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills and experience of positive stakeholder engagement internally and externally.
Sufficient IT skills including reporting writing.
Intellectual capacity to deal with complex issues and work within our local supply chain vision, creating a one team ethos.
Desirable
Degree standard education or recent relevant senior management experience working at a similar level in a related industrial setting.
IOSH Construction Safety Qualification.
NEC3 Contract training.
Project Management qualification (PRINCE2 or APM).
COTC qualification in non-hazardous waste management.
Member of the Chartered Institute of Waste Managers
