Job Overview The Integrated Mental Health Team provides clinical and psychological interventions for prisoners with mental health needs in HMP Woodhill. The post holder will work as a member of the mental health team and contribute to; delivering high quality, safe and effective Non-Medical Prescribing Services. The post holder will be responsible for conducting mental health assessments and attending multi-disciplinary team meetings. As an integral member of the Mental Health team this role involves attending team meetings, assessing a variety of mental health presentations and initiating onward referrals. Working autonomously and as part of an MDT, you will provide mental health advice to health professionals across primary and secondary care services to support treatment plans of service users. Main duties of the job The post holder will be responsible for the delivery and monitoring of high standard nursing care to patients assessed by the team. This will be done in accordance with their clinical needs applying evidence-based practice to achieve positive clinical outcomes. The post holder will adhere to relevant clinical protocols and policies. The post holder needs to be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of security and safety consistent with working within a custodial setting. The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities To work with the clinical services manager in at HMP Woodhill to deliver a range of specialist treatments for patients, which include treatment matching, health education, group work, one to one counselling and the management of self-harm. To provide teaching and education to staff and patients. To provide specialist clinical advice and support to other colleagues within the team. To continuously assess the bio-psychological needs of patients, developing and evaluating systematic treatment/care plans with nursing staff and psychosocial staff working within the team. To ensure in conjunction with the clinical staff that controlled drugs are: prescribed legally and safely in accordance with national guidance, legislation and CNWL Trust Policies. Adequately monitored to ensure effective audit trails for ordering, storage, supply, administration and destruction. To maintain prescription records accurately and consistently with best practice guidelines. To be fully conversant with national guidelines in relation to prison healthcare. To provide clinical supervision and mentorship to nursing colleagues. The post holder will be expected to work Monday to Friday 08:00hrs till 16:00hrs To work within the Scope of Practice agreed at the start of the role and participate in formal review at least every six months thereafter or as required.
