Job summary We are looking to appoint a whole time Consultants in Respiratory Medicine with a sub specialty in Interstitial Lung Disease to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Based at the Northern General Hospital. We would welcome applications to join our-sub-specialty teams from candidates across the full spectrum of experience, from those who have recently completed training to those who have well-established careers. Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues. Should any further vacancies arise shortlisted applicants will be considered. Main duties of the job This appointee will, together with consultant colleagues, be responsible for providing respiratory and other medical services to enable STH to fulfil its service agreements. In addition to running a subspecialty out-patient service, they will be expected to take part, on a rotational basis, with colleagues to deliver front door and ward-based inpatient care. The appointee will be expected to take part in the out of hours on-call rota and some OOH working. The current frequency of duties is 1:16 weekday nights and 5 weekends per year. At present there are two consultants on each weekend. The appointee will be expected to take part in regular acute medicine take / post take shifts, including reviewing ambulatory patients referred to the medical Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit.
