Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Senior Medicines Management Technician to join our dynamic respiratory team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside a dedicated clinical pharmacy team and contribute to the care of patients with complex respiratory conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Be responsible for medicines management on the inpatient cystic fibrosis (CF) unit.
• Provide patient-facing services, including medicines reconciliation, counselling, and support for the respiratory near-patient discharge service.
• Conduct medication adherence reviews and manage medication-related issues for patients with chronic severe asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis, or interstitial lung disease.
• Participate in medicines management education and training, projects, and audits, ensuring the highest standards of care.
• Attend relevant specialist multi-disciplinary team meetings and collaborate closely with clinicians, specialist pharmacists, and other members of the team to deliver comprehensive patient care.

As a registered Pharmacy Technician, you will be an integral part of both the pharmacy and respiratory teams. Your responsibilities will include providing high-quality respiratory services by:
• Supporting and developing the quality of patients’ pharmaceutical care within respiratory services at NUH through a professional and effective medicines management service.
• Performing adherence reviews, taking drug histories, and providing medication counselling.
• Supporting patient flow through the hospital by promoting the use of pre-packs or on-ward dispensing.
• Assisting in the education and training of staff within respiratory and pharmacy departments.
• Playing an active role in the development, monitoring, and auditing of services.
• Implementing local improvements to deliver the Trustwide Medicines Optimisation strategy.
• Integrating into the wider Respiratory multidisciplinary team.
• Participating in departmental weekend, bank holiday, and late duty working as required. At the time of advertising, the weekend rota encompasses 2 half-day shifts every 4/5 weeks at the city campus or 1 full day shift every 4 weeks at the QMC campus. In addition, the post holder will participate in a system of flexible shifts to facilitate NUH pharmacy opening times.
