Quantity Surveyor - Midlands, Hemel Hempstead or London

Our team is known for its extensive in-house expertise and continual drive to innovate within the industry. The Quantity Surveyor will support and advise on all commercial issues covering a high value, on projects in the Midlands and London.
The Specialist Businesses unit of Murphy comprises Murphy Ground Engineering, Murphy Applied Engineering, Murphy Utility Connections, Construction and Murphy Electrical Services. The business unit provides ideal opportunities for those wishing to take on more responsibility and operate at a business level rather than simply one project. The commercial team have a variety of experience and are delivery focussed whilst maintaining the Murphy family feel.
Murphy Utility Connections offers a unique one-stop solution that brings together gas, power and water for residential and commercial developments across the UK. The Utility Connections team has expanded our scope and operational activities extensively, leading to an increased presence in the south west and south east of England. We have also become an Independent Gas Transporter (IGT) and Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO), allowing us to own and operate electricity and gas networks.
We work on construction projects of all sizes, including installing mains, and altering and disconnecting services for a wealth of commercial developments. We also provide essential electricity, water and gas supplies for domestic developments on time and within budget.
Who we are looking for
1. Drafting and input on contract and subcontract negotiations, subcontract management and agreement of final accounts
2. Ensuring awareness off and compliance with our key risk parameters
3. Build on and manage client, supplier and internal relationships.
4. Preparation and presentation of monthly project cost value reconciliation, ensuring your awareness and compliance with revenue recognition rules.
5. Review and progress the management of opportunity and threat.
6. Define and implement a commercial strategy for each project.
7. Ensure compliance with year end.
8. Preparation of applications for payment to maintain cash position, including WIP control, cash flow production and improvement plans.
9. Input into growing your own high performing team, highlighting your resourcing needs to line and project management.
10. Mentor and oversee the progression of junior team members (not just commercial)
11. Input into apprentice and graduate recruitment annually
Who we are looking for.
12. Sustained experience in civils
13. NEC / JCT experience
14. Gained or seeking to attain professional accreditation.
15. Commercially astute with substantial proven experience within a commercial role in the Construction Industry
16. Good knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract and Standard Methods of Measurement.
17. Degree or equivalent to support a commercial background.
18. Full driving licence and happy to travel
