About Us
This is an exciting opportunity to join the team within Portsmouth Recovery Housing.
Do you fancy a change in scenery and working with substance misuse residents in Portsmouth?
The job in a nutshell; The Society wishes to recruit a Recovery Housing Support Worker to join the team in delivering supported housing within the Integrated Substance Misuse Recovery Services in Portsmouth.
The role will be based at various hostels across Portsmouth. You will work within a flexible 37-hour working week rota, that includes one late evening per week, some weekends, and Bank Holidays. Some out of hours work may be necessary in order to respond to an individual’s presenting needs.
You will work in a person-centred and trauma-informed approach to support individuals who want to make changes to their lives by supporting them to access interventions that are important to them. Good risk management skills are essential, as well as a strong ability to build meaningful relationships with our service users who are accessing our service for us to help make their lives better.
The Ideal Candidate; It is important to be you! We will require you to have the skills and experience and/or understanding of working with adults with alcohol and substance issues.
* Creative and dynamic and able to work with other agencies and clients to develop this new and innovative part of the service.
* Self-reflective, motivated, and able to work independently, sometimes lone working and as part of a team.
* Innovative and able to engage meaningfully with service users.
* Assess people’s needs and risks.
* Accurate record keeping.
* Reflective thinking.
* Effectively work with other agencies to advocate and support the client’s needs.
* Knowledge of the needs of vulnerable people with histories of homelessness, drug and alcohol dependency, and mental health needs.
* Ability to respond to crisis management, keep the client at the centre of the work, make full use of local resources and services to support the service users’ needs.
The successful candidates will have experience of working with this client group, knowledge of the impact of substance misuse on individuals and the wider community, and be able to manage a client caseload safely and effectively.
