The Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Global Academy of Agriculture and Food Systems at the University of Edinburgh. As part of the Jameel Observatory for Food Security Early Action, the appointee will support programmes of research on weather shocks, poverty, conflict, food insecurity, and anticipatory action in the drylands of Africa. You will do so as part of a multidisciplinary research team working in collaboration with practitioners to address real-world problems.
Your skills and attributes for success:
* A PhD (or PhD nearing completion) in a relevant topic (social or natural sciences) plus a record of achievement in a field relevant to food security early action in pastoral systems, as evidenced by practical experience, research publications, and educational/capacity strengthening activities (Desirable).
* Experience performing research on global challenges relevant to low-income countries, especially in cross/inter/trans-disciplinary research initiatives and in collaborative research.
* Practical experience of multi-disciplinary research in the Global South, ideally on topics relevant to food security early action in pastoral systems.
* Training and experience in quantitative approaches to research.
