Geotechnical Engineer - Offshore / Seismic
Arup's purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.
The Opportunity
A great opportunity for a geotechnical engineer to be part of the specialist team of seismic and offshore geotechnical engineers has come up in Arup's London office. You will work on projects focusing on the energy and infrastructure sectors, collaborating with colleagues across a range of disciplines including seismic engineering, structural engineering, nautical engineering and maritime engineering to deliver a wide range of services. You will support the team to characterise site conditions, design and analyse offshore wind and bridge foundations, and plan onshore and offshore site investigations. A background in planning, supervising and interpreting ground investigations and laboratory test results is essential.
We are looking to speak with individuals with the following skills:
* Proficient in site response analysis and liquefaction assessment.
* Knowledge of industry standard numerical modelling software such as FLAC, LS-DYNA, and PLAXIS modelling dynamic soil-structure interaction problems.
* First-hand experience in the application of advanced soil constitutive models under cyclic loading conditions.
* A post-graduate qualification (MSc or PhD) relevant to geotechnical and/or seismic engineering would be a benefit albeit not an absolute requirement.
