About the role
Ashgate Hospice is currently recruiting for a Clinical & Environmental Assistant to support and assist the IPU staff in delivering a high standard of care, in a welcoming and comforting environment.
We pride ourselves in ensuring that our staff have the time and support to deliver the very highest quality of care to the patients and families we look after.
Hours: Full-time 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday 9am-5pm
The main responsibilities include:
1. Maintaining good housekeeping of treatment and storage areas by replenishing and organising stock as and when required whilst also working with housekeeping staff to ensure a high quality of cleanliness.
2. Liaise with various departments and other members of staff and/or volunteers to ensure the expected standards of cleanliness of the ward is maintained.
3. Contribute to the promotion of a safe working environment, reducing hospice acquired infection and complying with hospice operational policies and procedures.
4. Maintain asset register, prepare equipment/appliances for servicing whilst also completing the required documentation and reporting faulty equipment/appliances.
About you:
Outstanding communication and organisational skills are essential for this post. You will be required to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team and be committed to making a positive impact on the lives of patients, families and colleagues alike.
You will need to demonstrate a calm and approachable manner, a caring and sensitive approach with a commitment to the hospice values, vision and strategy.
You should demonstrate personal integrity and have the ability to motivate others.
Skills and experience required:
1. Previous experience within a healthcare setting would be advantageous but not essential.
2. Able to demonstrate an understanding of the needs of terminally ill people.
3. Confident in communicating, documenting and updating records.
4. Motivation and commitment to personal and professional development.
5. A commitment to Ashgate’s values.
