Our client in Sussexisseeking a skilled and experienced Environmental Health Officer/Practitioner to oversee caravan site licensing activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in the inspection and regulation of residential and holiday caravan sites, ensuring compliance with legislative standards.
Rate circa £40-£46 Per Hour
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection and Regulation:
* Conduct inspections of residential and holiday caravan sites to assess compliance with relevant legislation and licensing conditions.
* Provide advice to site operators to improve standards and address areas of non-compliance.
Complaint Investigation:
* Investigate complaints related to caravan sites, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
* Maintain accurate records of complaint investigations and actions taken.
Fit and Proper Person Assessment:
* Assess applications for fit and proper person status under the Mobile Homes (Fit and Proper Person) Regulations.
* Evaluate evidence and prepare reports for decision-making purposes.
Enforcement Actions:
* Issue compliance notices where necessary to address breaches of site licence conditions.
* Prepare evidence for and attend court or tribunal proceedings to support enforcement actions.
Collaboration and Communication:
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, site operators, and other stakeholders.
* Provide clear and professional communication, including written reports and recommendations.
Requirements:
* Recent and demonstrable experience in a similar Environmental Health role, particularly in housing and caravan site licensing.
* Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960 and the Mobile Homes Act 2013.
* Strong investigative and analytical skills.
* Experience in enforcement, including issuing compliance notices and attending legal proceedings.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to work flexibly, including attending sites at short notice.
