Do you have good organisational skills with a flexible proactive approach? Can you think creatively and support an accessible programme of activities and events?
About us
The Science Museum aims to inspire visitors with award-winning exhibitions, iconic objects and stories of incredible scientific achievement. The Learning & Events team at the Science Museum work across the Museum and are responsible for a busy, daily schools programme alongside hosting exciting large-scale events for families, adults and community groups.
The team sits within a larger Public Programmes team and has close links to gallery and exhibition development, to ensure that everything we do at the Museum creates an amazing experience for our visitors.
To support the work of this team, we are now looking for a Programme Coordinator (Careers) to assist the Programme Manager in driving forward the Science Museum's careers programmes for children and young people.
The role will be based at the Science Museum in London, working full-time (35 hours pw), on a fixed-term basis until March 2028.
About the role
As Programme Coordinator (Careers), you will hone our current offer (e.g. The Technicians: The David Sainsbury Gallery programming for schools and families and annual Skills Fair) to be the best it can be. You will assist the Programme Manager (Careers) with developing programmes and providing administrative support to make these programmes a reality. You will work closely with Assistant Delivery Managers and also with the wider team of Explainers, Senior Explainers and volunteers to inform and support your work.
For some smaller scale projects, programmes and events, you will take more of a leading role in developing these and working with colleagues to make them a reality. You will supervise volunteers, manage any casual or contracted staff who work on your programmes and own relationships with external partners, as and when necessary.
About you
Joining us, you will bring a creative flair with a practical, solutions-focused approach. You will bring some experience of researching, planning and/or supporting the creation of public programmes and events, ideally with experience of careers-based programming. You will bring a good understanding of the needs of audiences, their diversity and their access requirements, and an organised approach, experience of administration and strong interpersonal skills.
Don't feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn't match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
