Job Purpose
* To manage operational staff ensuring all aspects of Health and Safety are adhered to.
* To create RAMS for all commercial and domestic jobs.
* To foresee potential risks on site keeping our workforce and the public safe.
Weekly/Monthly Tasks
* To work with our Doncaster office, occasionally visiting their site.
* To carry out site inspections prior to and during jobs to ensure all H&S regulations are adhered to.
* To create and monitor the business’ yearly training plan/matrix for operational staff.
* To ensure full and accurate health, safety and training records are maintained.
* To ensure that all health and safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated, and communicated within the company.
* To Record and investigate incidents, accidents, complaints, and cases of ill health in the workplace and on our job sites.
* To undertake quality audits to ensure health and safety regulations are adhered to.
* To write and maintain internal health and safety policies and strategies.
* To draw up safe operational practices and make the necessary changes.
* To provide health and safety training courses for employees.
* Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer’s industry.
* Complete health and safety Inductions for new staff.
* Ordering and managing uniforms, PPE purchasing and spending.
* Manage Health & Safety Committee meetings. Ensure that all agreed action points are completed within deadlines. The successful candidate will need to devise the agenda for these meetings whilst chairing them. They will also need to formulate and distribute the meeting minutes.
* Provide regular reports to the Board of Directors and Senior Management Team on relevant health and safety activities.
* Work with Compliance Manager and integrate policies into everyday work practise
* Carry out monthly Engineer toolbox talks.
* Participate in monthly meetings, when required to report on relevant health & safety matters.
* Liaise with suppliers i.e., insurers on any H&S matters.
* Carry out any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time.

Skills and Qualities
* Excellent written and spoken communication skills to explain health and safety processes to a range of people and to give group presentations.
* Negotiating skills to convince managers of the need to implement and maintain safety standards that may compromise speed or efficiency in the organisation.
* Patience and diplomacy because the profession requires a collaborative approach.
* The ability to understand and analyse complex information and present it simply and accurately.
* Ability to work alone and in a team.
* Intermediate IT skills (able to work with Microsoft programmes and online platforms).
* A flexible approach to work.
* Highly motivated.
* Attention to detail on site and in the office.
* An interest in the law and the ability to understand regulations.
* A driving licence – essential for jobs involving travel between sites.
* Team player.
* Knowledge of the drainage/construction industry – preferable.
