This role is defined as a safety critical role within the Drug & Alcohol Testing Procedure. You must therefore be willing to comply in accordance with this procedure.

About The Post
An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of Barnsley Council’s Street Lighting Team.
Required
We require two individuals to work in our Street Lighting division, maintaining and installing streetlights, illuminated signs, and bollards across the borough. You should be self-motivated and will be required to:
1. Undertake general and specialist operational duties in all weathers which involve a wide range of physically and mentally demanding tasks.
2. Drive general and specialist vehicles and machines with or without trailers or attachments.
3. Be responsible for the careful day-to-day use, maintenance, and security of vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
4. Be customer-focused and deal with exchanges of information in a polite, courteous, and positive manner, responding where possible to minor requests for service and reporting problems to your line manager.
5. Undertake fault diagnosis and on-site assessments of the structural condition of street lighting equipment, reporting on findings.
6. Attend emergencies following incidents to make safe damaged street lighting and electrical apparatus.
7. Work under the guidance of the line manager and by application of personal initiative to deliver services to a professional standard within agreed procedures.
8. Work to agreed schedules and respond to new priorities as required or directed by the line manager to ensure deadlines are met.
9. Demonstrate safe working practices to other employees, apprentices, trainees, and students where required.
10. Comply with current Health & Safety, Customer Care, Dignity at Work, and other relevant legislation, policies, and procedures at all times.
11. Undertake any duties commensurate with the post as requested by management.
You Must Hold The Following Qualifications
* City & Guilds Electrical Level 3
* City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing OR Extensive Equivalent Experience*
* 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations
* G39 – Working on DNO apparatus OR Extensive Equivalent Experience*
* IOSH Working Safely
* CSCS / ECS card
* IPAF
* Driving Licence
