My client, a Bingley-based Manufacturer, is looking for a Works Engineer who is competent in both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
They seek someone with factory & machine maintenance, repair, and installation experience in a versatile manufacturing environment.
Suitable applicants are likely to be mechanically led with electrical training or strong experience and able to be trained further electrically.
A good problem solver, able to proactively resolve issues promptly or understand when to bring in outside resources/expertise as required.
Working in a team of 2, standard hours are 8 am to 4:30 pm (42.5 hours a week), plus on-call and overtime.
MAIN DUTIES
1. Always work safely, e.g. isolating machinery, erecting guards, etc.
2. Make personnel aware of any work starting or other issues via shift supervisors and others as necessary.
3. Respond quickly to production machine issues as they arise.
4. Ensure factory/machines/site remain safe to use or be around.
5. Check and maintain machine safety devices, fire/smoke alarms, and exits at fixed intervals.
6. Isolate any machinery/areas in an unsafe condition.
7. Monitor/rectify/report machine or equipment access issues, e.g. guarding, steps, sensors.
8. Plan, undertake, and record maintenance to minimize output disruption.
9. Plan any preventative maintenance with the works manager and supervisors to minimize loss in production time.
10. Control/monitor the work of third parties/visitors, including experience and competence, to maintain personnel/visitor safety.
11. Plan and ensure relevant H&S requirements and quality (BRC) checks are undertaken on time.
12. Keep an organized, well-laid-out, and tidy workshop and equipment.
13. Always wear the correct PPE for the job and use equipment in a safe manner.
14. BRC - Come to work in a clean and tidy manner (clothing laundered, hair protection, etc.) to minimize contamination risk to our products.
Skills
1. Mechanically Qualified - NVQ Level 3 or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
2. Experience of:
* Mechanical engineering working with machine tools.
* Gearboxes and drives.
* General engineering.
* Pneumatic controls.
* Fire Alarm systems/Testing.
1. Electrically qualified (ideally) - 18th Edition General experience (including controllers/panels) of:
* Single and three-phase motors.
* Inverters and AC drives.
* DC Drives.
* Heater and cooling controls.
* PAT Testing.
2. Maintaining other areas of the factory - planned maintenance and undertaking other functions to facilitate the smooth running of the factory. Also, at times organizing/helping to organize and coordinating/managing work by external contractors.
