Job summary The role of receptionist will assist in providing an effective and efficient service for patients to meet their needs and to accommodate the day to day running of the practice. As Receptionist you will meet, greet and assist patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professionals in a courteous and efficient manner. You will provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or on the telephone. Main duties of the job As Receptionist you will ensure that the practice is ready to receive patients and that clinical rooms are ready and stocked with appropriate stock. You will book patients in for appointments (same day or pre-booked) as appropriate with the relevant healthcare professional using a booked appointment system on the clinical system, Systm One. You will deal with medication requests and prescriptions and queries from patients in person and/or on the telephone. You will deal with incoming post and direct to the most appropriate member of staff to action. You will scan letters, medical reports etc onto patients records and code as appropriate to ensure up to date records are maintained. The hours of work are not negotiable and are: Monday 1pm - 6pm Tuesday - Day off Wednesday 8am - 6.30pm Thursday 1pm - 6.30pm Friday 12.30 - 6.30pm About us We are a friendly team which comprises approx 40 staff, this includes GP's, Physician Associates, Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Secretaries and administration staff who support the whole team. We are based across 3 sites in the Dearne area of Barnsley and come under NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board. Our main surgery is at the Goldthorpe Centre and we have branches at Thurnscoe and Great Houghton.
