Position Statement:
This position presents an excellent opportunity to join a global government affairs function with an in-house role at one of the world’s leading hotel companies. We are looking for a strategic and creative thinker to develop and execute UK government affairs programmes primarily, and drive stakeholder engagement in Europe and our Middle East, Africa, and Turkey subregions.
The position would suit a government affairs professional who wants to deepen their existing experience in UK policy, and Europe, and use their skill and initiative to support our growing business in emerging tourism destinations.
The person we are looking for will have a strong understanding of the public policy landscape, an ability to build relationships and partnerships, and is a proven self-starter with a demonstrable ability to navigate complex policy issues and deliver impactful campaigns.
Position Summary:
The Director Government Affairs EMEA will report to the Vice President of Government Affairs EMEA as a key member of the global government affairs team. The Government Affairs team forms part of the broader Corporate Affairs function working closely with our ESG and communications teams as well as the broader business, across operations, legal, development and more.
What will I be doing?
1. UK-focused lobbying activity:
Design and execute high impact governmental advocacy campaigns to advance our policy priorities.
Prepare and brief our UK executive team as they represent Hilton at various engagements with external stakeholders.
Build and maintain strategic coalitions and partnerships as necessary to achieve legislative objectives including working with our industry trade associations and other representative bodies.
Analyse policy developments and parliamentary activity to inform colleagues of developments around key company priorities and develop a course of action accordingly.
Support our UK hotels in their engagements with local decision makers.
Represent Hilton at relevant meetings, events, and conferences on key policy areas.
2. Liaise with corporate communications, legal and operations’ teams to manage issues:
Collaborate with partners across the business to build awareness of emerging political risk/developments in strategic policy areas.
Work closely with the corporate affairs team to ensure consistency of message with external stakeholders and support an integrated approach to multi-stakeholder, multi-jurisdictional campaigns, and issues management.
Provide counsel to the team on relevant political developments and policy trends.

What are we looking for?
To fulfil this role successfully, you must possess the following minimum qualifications and experience:
* Extensive experience ideally in a Government Affairs in-house, representative/trade body or agency position.
* Experience working for decision makers i.e. UK or European Parliament.
* Excellent communications skills – written, interpersonal and verbal.
* Ability to understand, synthesize and integrate complex issues in presentations, messaging documents and other communications with internal and external audiences.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Strong organizational skills including ability to manage multiple issues/campaigns in various geographies.
* Proactive. A self-starter with the ability to work independently.
* Networker and coalition builder.
* Strong understanding of current affairs and international relations particularly Whitehall and Westminster and Brussels.
* Fluent written and spoken English.
* Creative and strategic thinker.
Required Education:
* BA/BS/Bachelor's Degree in Law, Politics, International Relations, or European Studies.
It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
* Significant experience ideally in a Government Affairs in-house, industry representative body or agency position.
* Responsibility for development and execution of stakeholder engagement campaigns – in UK and Brussels.
* Second / third language.
Preferred Education:
* MS/MA/Master's Degree.
