The Multi Skilled Maintenance Technician is primary responsible for execution of maintenance activities across the site, identifying parts to be ordered to enable breakdown, corrective or preventative works on site across a multitude of assets and general site fabrication and facilities, to realize the uptime and smooth running of the plant. This will span across both electrical and mechanical support, whilst continuously looking to Improve engineering standards on site whilst at times carrying out small scale engineering projects. All the above will be carried out to the appropriate levels of maintenance service whilst ensuring site and group/corporate standards are adhered too. This will be a primarily days based role however at times it will need the flexibility if required due to sickness to provide shift support.
Core Responsibilities:
Breakdown, Corrective, Preventative activities –
· To provide ‘hands on’ electrical and mechanical support for the site.
· Carry out routine PPMs by accessing the current WOs in SAP
· Anticipate potential machine failures by carrying out plant walkarounds that identify proactive maintenance and escalate these issues to the management team.
· Carry out reactive maintenance as directed by the production personnel in a timely manner to a permanent standard – No quick fixes over a professional repair.
· Provide support to production personnel to ensure that the site receives the maximum engineering engagement to operate efficiently.
· Deliver a high level of workmanship and a zero-defect level as the only acceptable standard. A fix needs to stay fixed.
· Identification of critical maintenance spares and consumables required for jobs or future potential problems/risks to reduce the MTTR and increase MTBF.
· Strive towards a world-class maintenance organisation at the Goole site by continually improving OEE of all production lines, addressing quality issues through technical solutions and improving the standards of maintenance workmanship.
· Carry out work in accordance with EHSQ policies, procedures and applicable legal requirements.
· Supporting Stock control via stock takes of maintenance stores where required
SAP management in maintenance –
· Data inputting of work orders within SAP inclusive of operational tasks, resources, time estimates, booking of materials to allow effective completion of all maintenance work orders
· Utilization of the system to identify part locations within the maintenance stores
• Providing feedback on maintenance plans to improve risk mitigation and enable value adding tasks to be added to maintenance plans whilst also removing non-value adding tasks.
Permits/inductions –
· Writes, undertakes or authorizes permits and dynamic risk assessments as required for employees and contractors activities with appropriate training provided
• Questions anything that doesn’t look right to continue with the great safety culture on site
CI initiatives and small projects –
· Ability to support small scale projects on site to support the CI initiatives and make positive changes to the site
Qualified candidates must have:
· Time served Engineering apprenticeship or relevant experience (NVQ 3, ONC etc)
· Minimum 5 years experience within an engineering role
· Experience using a CMMS system preferably SAP if possible
· Excellent organization and communication skills to support engagement between all functions
· Proficient with computers to enable data inputting/understanding manuals and schematics – Electrical/Mechanical
· Basic Understanding of PLCs and instrumentation
· Some fabrication and welding skills
· HNC qualified
· IOSH qualified
· Experience completing small scale projects
· Understanding of safe working procedures i.e. ATEX DSEAR.
· Experience working within a FMCG environment or food manufacturing plant
· Comprehensive understanding of engineering principles and working practices
· Autonomous, Self-motivated to be involved in the redevelopment of a maintenance strategy/operation which currently underway on site
· Ability to challenge the status quo/normal and have a voice when required
· Team player, Ability to integrate into a small team and develop relationships not only internally but also with external partners
· Be proactive yet methodical in their work
