Senior Health and Safety Advisor | 3 Month Contract | (Inside IR35) | Hybrid - Scotland Central Belt | Starting ASAP
Day Rate: DOE
Main Duties:
1. To provide the clients Management and Staff with specialist advice and support on Health and Safety matters.
2. To support the development of a recognised Health and Safety Management System.
3. To support the development of health and safety audit plans to monitor health, safety and welfare arrangements.
4. To carry out incident investigations, provide incident reports, and ensure actions and lessons learned are completed in a timely manner.
5. To liaise with portfolio leads to identify staff training needs in health and safety matters and assist with its provision directly or through training service providers.
6. To develop health, safety and welfare procedures and policies, and to support reviews of hazard and risk assessments for all activities in all workplaces.
7. To lead on more complex H&S projects, liaising with colleagues in other parts of the business contributing to these projects, and ensuring timely completion of actions to keep project deadlines on track.
8. To co-ordinate, collate and keep appropriate formal (statutory) and informal records (accidents, incidents, training, maintenance, etc.), review trends and provide reports as required.
9. To provide specialist advice to relevant Safety Committee(s) and Senior Leaders groups.
Essential Skills & Experience:
1. Relevant H&S qualifications (min NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety) plus experience (min 3 years).
2. Specialist knowledge of H&S legislation.
3. Requires a good understanding of a range of techniques/processes relating to H&S and of the customer requirements and the related processes/procedures and methodologies.
4. Good knowledge and understanding of one area of H&S application in particular, eg laboratories, marine, etc.
5. Communication skills: good written and oral communication, report writing, presentation skills.
6. Technical skills: MS Office, MS 365.
