Overall purpose of role To provide academic support to students with disabilities in Higher and Further Education. This will involve electronically taking notes in lectures, seminars and tutorials. The student may also need mobility, orientation, sighted assistance and may need to access support on and around campus. Main duties and responsibilities To directly take electronic notes on to a laptop during in lectures, seminars and tutorials for students in higher and further education with a range of disabilities Produce notes that are clear, complete and legibly written. Manage paper work effectively, i.e. filling in timesheets accurately and promptly posting them at the end of each month. Attend any relevant training or meetings You will be expected to represent The Learning Support Centre in a professional and service orientated manner. This includes adhering to our stringent policies including those on confidentiality and safeguarding Actively managing personal development in agreement with the Manager. To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required by The Learning Support Centre. Skills, Knowledge & Experience Qualifications GCSE Maths and English, C Grade and Above Educated or Studied at Degree level or equivalent Experience Studying or working in a Higher or Further Education setting Supporting disabled people or people with Specific Learning Differences in education and/or in the workplace Experience in using computer software and hardware Skills Confidence and ability Able to learn new assistive software Excellent communication skills Benefits of working for The Learning Support Centre Access to our latest communication hub with live updates on our collaboration and productivity Full accredited training provided Working with an innovative and Award winning Company
