Assistant Accountant Full Time | Permanent Salary: £35,000 per annum annual company bonus Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week Location: Winnersh RG41 (Hybrid) We are seeking a proactive Assistant Accountant to join our Advantage Smollan finance team. You will support the seamless delivery of accurate month-end processes for multiple UK entities. This role focuses on maintaining robust financial controls and contributing to process improvements. While this role has no direct reports, occasional out-of-hours work may be required during period-end processes. Key Responsibilities Complete month-end financial close processes on time and with accuracy. Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations. Prepare VAT reports and returns. Handle back-office treasury activities, including FX rate postings, loan interests, and intercompany agreements. Post journals for accruals, prepayments, and other provisions. Assist with cost reallocations, fixed assets, and project accounting. Document, standardize, and improve processes. Support external audits and balance sheet reconciliations. Collaborate with team members to share knowledge and ensure efficiency. What We’re Looking For Qualifications & Experience: AAT qualified or finalist. Proven experience in commercial finance. Skills: Strong Excel skills (vlookups, pivot tables). Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills. Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities. Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with systems such as SAP BPC, Dynamics 365 Finance, Chrome River, Medius Flow, Blackline, and Microsoft Office (desirable). What’s in It for You?
