Postdoctoral Scientist, Spatial Transcriptomics
Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist, Spatial Transcriptomics with a strong preference for this individual to be located at one of our sites in Berlin, Germany; Beerse, Belgium; High Wycombe, UK; Paris, France; Zug, Switzerland; Leiden, Netherlands; Spring House, PA; Cambridge, MA; Titusville, NJ; or La Jolla, CA. (Remote work options within may be considered on a case-by-case basis and if approved by the company.)
We are seeking an exceptional post-doctoral scientist with expertise in single cell sequencing and spatial transcriptomics, particularly focused on understanding the tumor microenvironment and its clinical implications. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
* Collaborating closely with scientists in Translational Research, Discovery, Data Science and Digital Health to derive novel insights that inform pre-clinical and clinical compound development strategies, especially in the context of personalized medicine.
* Analyzing, integrating, and interpreting high-dimensional data from various modalities, including spatial transcriptomics and single-cell sequencing, to gain insights into the tumor microenvironment and its role in clinical outcomes.
* Employing scalable statistical and machine learning techniques, including foundational models, to identify and characterize unique molecular signatures from high-dimensional biological data that correlate with tumor microenvironment features.
* Engaging in experimental design activities alongside multidisciplinary teams across Johnson and Johnson Innovative Medicine to ensure robust and impactful research methodologies.
* Upholding compliance with internal standards for re-usable code, data integrity and reproducibility, ensuring that all research outputs meet rigorous scientific standards.
* Effectively communicating research findings to both internal collaborators and external stakeholders through comprehensive project reports, engaging oral presentations, and contributions to peer-reviewed scientific publications.

Qualifications
• A recent Ph.D. degree obtained within the last three years in computer science, bioinformatics, computational biology, systems biology, or a related field, with a strong emphasis on spatial and/or single-cell transcriptomics.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R
• Demonstrated expertise in machine learning techniques and high-dimensional optimization, with experience applying these methods to biological datasets at scale.
• Direct experience in analyzing single-cell and/or spatial transcriptomics data
• Proven ability to conduct high-quality research, exemplified through publications in peer-reviewed journals or contributions to impactful scientific projects.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex data and insights effectively to diverse audiences, including both scientific peers and non-expert stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in one or more of the following:
* Oncology and/or Immunology.
* Cell therapy discovery and development.
* High performance computing and distributed systems.
