Job overview
We require a HPC Registered Dietitian to join our friendly department of Dietitians providing the nutrition and dietetic service to Hounslow Borough. The postholder will contribute to the Gastroenterology, HEF and ONS service in the community.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in Community Dietetics in a supportive environment.
Due to the requirement to travel around Hounslow Borough it is desirable that you have your own means of transport.
Main duties of the job
* Provide a professional nutrition and dietetic service to gastroenterology, HEF and Nutrition Support patients and their families.
* Provide the service to both patients with a Hounslow GP and referred by primary, community and secondary care.
* See patients in a variety of community clinics and other venues across Hounslow Borough or in the patients’ own home where this is appropriate.
* Be responsible for the initial education and training of Coeliac patients referred and their follow up via Annual Review groups.
* Provide FODMAP education to patients.
* Train Primary Care staff (GP’s, Practice Nurse etc.) in 1st line advice, the referral pathway and policies and procedures relating to Gastroenterology and Nutrition Support.
* Be competent in supervising dietetic students in accordance with their university’s standards.
* Have acquired professional knowledge through approved degree, postgraduate diploma training plus continuous professional development is essential.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Post grad specialist courses and in-house training in an aspect of Gastroenterology (incl. Enteral Feeding). This must be taken within the 1st year if not already obtained.
* Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
* Membership of British Dietetic Association.
Experience
* Experience of working in either acute trust or Community at Band 5 level for 1 year.

* Confident and experience in providing training/ education to patients and other HCP.
* Evidence of commitment to CPD and lifelong learning.

* Able to prioritise workload.
* Able to deal with the terminally ill and anxious clients and relatives.
* Accurately input patient activity data in accordance with professional and trust standards.
* Able to demonstrate a commitment to the WLT values (Togetherness, Responsibility, Excellence and Caring).
Knowledge
* Behaviour change/motivational interviewing.
* IT Skills –confident in use of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Outlook.
* Knowledge of clinical governance.
* Advanced clinical reasoning skills.
