The Surgical Services Management Team are looking to appoint a Surgical Support Coordinator to support the provision of high-quality patient care through dedicated administrative and clerical support and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will join a team of three Coordinators and three Support Coordinators. The post holders will be the point of contact for all administrative and clerical issues relating to patients’ pathway of care, tracking and supporting them from referral to treatment and discharge.
The post holders will provide a patient-focused service that supports the Surgical Coordinators and clinical staff in the provision of efficient integrated pathways that enable the best use of resources and ensure that patients are fit, willing and able to be treated and that they are treated in the right place, by the right person, at the right time.
Specialties covered within the team are Breast, Bariatric, Endoscopy, Gastroenterology, Colorectal, Upper GI, Urology, and Vascular. The post holders will provide cross cover for other team members and actively participate in the sharing of skills and experience within the team and aiding the spread of good practice throughout the team.

Main duties of the job
* Post holder will be able to demonstrate advanced communication and organisational skills, be able to use their own initiative and show problem-solving skills.
* Excellent attention to detail and a passion for patient care is essential.
* Ensuring efficient and effective use of the theatre and endoscopy sessions.
* Play a central role within this service and work in close liaison with NHS colleagues, patients, and the general public.
* To manage waiting lists in accordance with the Patient Access Policy and to achieve government and JAG waiting time standards.
* To be responsible for the addition and removal from waiting lists and recording of all relevant patient information to and from the waiting list. This may be in response to a clinician, patient, or management request.
* Monitor the Patient Target List (PTL) on a daily basis to ensure government access standards are not breached and to escalate any potential breaches and take appropriate action to resolve capacity issues and escalate any issues to the Assistant Operations Manager.
* Managing waiting lists for patients on the cancer pathway who require endoscopy procedures and/or further surveillance appointments.
