Hours Full time role working 6 days a week
Are you working towards a Masters or PhD in Drama (or a related subject)? Do you have teaching/tutoring experience?
Join us this summer for a full-time residential role as a Teacher on our Pre-University course for international students aged 15-17 at Winchester College.
Undergraduates with relevant experience will be considered.
About the role:
You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons for the Drama ‘Major’ (13.5 hrs/week).
Under your guidance, international students aged 15-17 with an advanced level of English will unlock their creative potential and refine their public speaking skills.
Whether they are learning about the rich history of theatre, practising impactful monologues, or mastering techniques such as voice projection, they will develop vital presentation and communication skills
You will also teach a ‘Minor’ (6 hrs/week) i.e. Cultural English, Debate Lessons include activities that ensure students are stretched and challenged.
You will also successfully complete administrative duties this role entails and assist with pastoral duties.
Working conditions:
Dates: 3 July – 1 August
Working days: 6 days a week (Day off on Sundays)
Duties:
* 22.5 hours’ teaching per week + admin and pastoral duties
* Ensure safeguarding and welfare of students and respond sensitively to pastoral matters
* Sleep on-site, normally in a room near the students
Location: Winchester College, Winchester, SO23 9NA
Accommodation and meals: provided at the school.

* Degree linked to Drama
* Current undergraduates will be considered for the role
You need to be able to:
* Develop a 2-week syllabus (with support from the Academic Manager)
* Provide a clear and accurate model of the English language
* Plan and deliver engaging, student-centred, interactive lessons
* Apply classroom management techniques to ensure high engagement levels
* Respond and adapt to feedback, be flexible
To succeed in this role, you should already have:
* Previous experience teaching and/or tutoring teenagers
* Previous experience in a residential setting
* Worked with international students
* Planned and delivered presentations to large groups
