The post sits within the Department of Motor Vehicle and Construction. The Department provides training and assessment for apprenticeships, work placed assessments, full and part time courses from levels 1 to 3 and Higher Education at the college's Trident, Evesham and Rugby Centres. The post holder will join the existing Motor Vehicle team and be responsible to the Head of Department for the area. The post holder will provide practical instruction to relevant industry standards. You will be working with teaching and learning staff where you will provide practical training and instruction to students in practical subjects both on an individual and group basis. Key to which is ensuring the tuition is learner focused, ensures academic excellence, high quality learning and an outstanding student experience and which reflects the principles of the personalised curriculum.,
* To develop the skills of students within the area of the workshop.
* To administer and oversee skills training.
* To apply assessment procedures and methods using pre-prepared learning material.
* To prepare & set-up physical materials and equipment for workshop activities.
* To produce a preventative maintenance schedule and carry out such maintenance on all tools and workshop equipment.
* To order workshop equipment and materials in conjunction with the team.
* To maintain the workshop to current H&S standards.
* To attend team meetings.
* To assist in developing this area of work.
* To ensure all students are aware of the Health & Safety Guidelines in the workshop.
* To ensure student tracking is kept up to date.
* Monitor and report on student progress.
In order to support during busy exam periods, you may be asked to undertake exam invigilator duties. The College will provide training. OFFERS OF WORK For the successful candidate a conditional offer of work will be made. Our offer of work will be conditional upon a number of mandatory pre-employment checks, to include but not limited to: DBS, Barred List check, right to work check, internet search, TRA check (academic posts).
* A level 3 qualification in an automotive discipline, e.g. City & Guilds Advanced Craft or NVQ Level 3 etc.
* Current experience in an automotive environment.
* Evidence of formal structured training in a relevant vocation.
* Vocational experience of working in industry and dealing with customers.
* Teacher Training Qualification or willingness to complete one. These qualifications are mandatory for all trainers who teach on a publicly funded provision.
* Assessor award A1, or equivalent, or a willingness to complete the award within 6 months of appointment.
Desirable Attainments
* Experience of working with Awarding Bodies and knowledge of their systems and paperwork.
* Experience of working with outside agencies and organisations.
